Jokes aside, be prepared for long sessions of luck turning both ways during your videopoker ventures. That’s how it goes. If you take your videopoker game really seriously, then you have to put in the hours and not worry about the short term results.

If you work on developing your videopoker skills and a winning strategy then you will protect your bankroll and survive the tougher times. Whatever you do, don’t go changing your strategy.

Get used to losing more sessions than winning – Its normal. But the trick is to ensure your losing sessions are smaller than your wins. You have to play your cards for the maximum returns and sustain your bankroll, so that when the big wins come along you get ahead! Its not all about winning the jackpots, its also about how you minimise your loses and maximise your returns from the cards.

And you do that by working on your skills and playing the right videopoker machines – Simple!!!

I got into the old one coin versus five argument again…

Its funny how some of the old video poker players get so adamant about their strategy and defend it, just because it works for them it doesn’t mean that its generally the best video poker strategy to teach beginners.

First of all never get caught in between and play two or three coins because the return only increases on the fifth coin. So you are putting more money into the machine for a lower return. Decide whether you are going one coin or five coins and stick with it.

The basic rule is that when you have the edge bet your five coins but when you dont have an advantage then stick to one coin. Don’t give your money away trying to chase a royal.

And if you cant handle the big money, step down to the smaller denomination video poker machines, that way you’ll get more bang for your buck!

The Jacks or Better video poker game was the first video poker game to be introduced into casinos in the 70′s. And, is still considered the best place to start playing video poker and to learn the game, as it is fairly straight forward and easy to understand.

When the early video poker machines were first introduced, the machines only paid out on 2 pair or greater, the odds were not in favor of the players and many gamblers shunned the game. With a re-think, they improved the winning odds for players and changed the payouts to be for a pair of jacks or higher… hence the name Jacks or Better… and the game took off.

Jacks or Better has become the standard video poker game that everyone knows. Look for the best versions that have very low house edges, even as low as 0.5% if you can believe it… I suppose the strategy is that it keeps you coming back for more. That’s probably one of the lowest house edges you will get in the casino.

Heh isn’t this a blog about video poker? So where are the video poker tips?

Ok lets talk about a few tips if you are a video poker player.

First lesson is to forget all that you have learnt from playing real poker! All you need to know is the hand rankings.

1. In video poker don’t hold the kicker card, get rid of it. A kicker only decreases your chances of making a winning hand in video poker.

2. The ace is not the best card in the deck when playing some video poker games, because the best card is actually the lowest card that qualifies for a pair – then it can be used in more straights. Example a jack can be used in any straight from 7,8,9,10,J through to 10,J,Q,K,A. But the ace can only be used in two straights A,2,3,4,5 and 10,J,Q,K,A. So sometimes in video poker you will want to get rid of an ace when you have three mixed suited high cards.

The exception is that bonus games can put a higher value to aces.

3. Remember, in video poker, a hand’s worth is determined only by the payment schedule. A pair of jacks is just as strong as a pair of aces.

4. Always consider the possibility of making a royal flush in video poker, even with two or three cards still to go. You would never do that in normal poker.

Thats a few video poker tips to keep you going for now. Satisfied? More to come…

Are you looking for an online gambling game that gives you a fair shot at winning and that has similarities with online poker? They aren’t easy to find. Online casinos don’t make money by offering games in which the player has just as good a chance of winning as the House.

Video poker happens to be one of those games. If you employ perfect strategy on the right video poker games, your return is over 99 percent. In this case, the House has less than a one percent advantage over you. You’d be hard pressed to find better odds than that.

Proper Strategy in Video Poker

You can’t get that super low House edge by playing any way you want. You certainly can’t get it by chasing long shots. Video poker success requires optimal strategy.

In general, it’s necessary to keep a paying hand or draw to the easiest paying hand. When it comes to strategy, you’re in luck, since others have taken the guesswork out of it. Go online and find a basic video poker strategy chart to keep with you as you play.

Progressive Video Poker Strategy

Most video poker machines are progressive machines. If you hit a royal flush, you get whatever is in the progressive jackpot pool, usually a considerable amount of money.

Make sure you play the maximum amount of coins per deal that the game allows (usually five but it can be more). If you do not put in the full amount and hit a royal flush, you may cost yourself hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Pay Tables

Another critical idea for video poker success is finding full pay games. These are games with the most favorable pay tables. If you don’t have the best pay tables, you are not getting the best odds.

For the standard “Jacks or Better” video poker game, the standard pay table is a 9/6, meaning the game pays 6 coins for a flush and 9 coins for a full house. Other video poker games have different full pay tables. Do your research online before choosing a video poker game and putting your bankroll at risk.

You’ve heard it all before: It’s impossible to win in casinos. There’s a built-in house edge in every game that grants the casino a profit. Your expectation is always negative. The player is always the loser.

This is often true but there’s an exception to these statements – Video Poker.

Video Poker can actually offer players positive expectation, which means that you’ll win in the long run. Some machines – far from all however – has rules that turns the percentages into the players’ favor. But there’s one catch: you must deploy the perfect video-poker strategy. Always!

In this blog I’ll investigate video poker on the Web and guide you to:

The best video-poker machines

The best video-poker strategy

The best video poker bonuses

If you take these three things into consideration when looking for and playing the game, you have the chance to enjoy an edgeless casino game, or to be honest, the only edgeless casino game there is.
